Oliver Sacks, celebrated neurologist and author, died yesterday at his home in Manhattan, at the age of 82. A gentle and curious human being, Dr. Sacks popularized the workings of the brain with numerous books that vividly describe the experiences of patients with neurological disorders.
Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.
You will be missed, Dr. Sacks.
